A Primer on Motorhome Classes
If you want a truly comfortable all-in-one camping accommodation that doesn’t require a towing vehicle, then a motorhome is the perfect option. However, you do need to understand the differences between the various types, or “classes,” of motorhomes before you choose one.
As your Iowa motorhome sales experts, Hawkeye Boat & RV Sales has prepared this quick guide to inform you of the different classes of motorhomes so you can select the right one for your traveling needs.
Class A
The largest and most well-appointed type of motorhome is the Class A motorhome. Built on a bus chassis, Class A motorhomes tend to have panoramic windshields, spacious living quarters, and lots of great amenities and features. They may be as long as 45’, which means you and your fellow travelers will have all the room you need to be comfortable on short or long trips.
Class B
Compact and convenient, Class B motorhomes are the smallest style of motorhome, built on a van chassis. A Class B motorhome can typically only handle two or three passengers at most, but this makes them ideal for couples and solo travelers who want a comfortable camping experience that isn’t cumbersome to drive.
Class C
Class C motorhomes, built on a truck chassis, have a separate driving cab and an overhanging alcove above the cab that offers more storage. A Class C motorhome can be quite large or very compact, depending on the manufacturer and how expensive it is. They tend to be very easy to drive and park.
